Many artists are now exploring the art of chainsaw wood carving. The art is a natural extension and extension of their skill sets. It often involves a combination or modern and traditional carving techniques. Since the 1960s, Crager and Tracie Dugas have been carving beautiful wood pieces. Between shows, they like to go home and help with staining. His daughters have become involved in his work, sometimes helping with painting and staining. They also prefer to use white pine, which is lighter and less likely to crack.

Rich Anderson

Rich Anderson is a chainsaw wood carve artist from Reedsport, Oregon. He is a Poughkeepsie resident and lives in Oregon with his wife and their son. Anderson holds several degrees and teaches art in the Pre-K-5th grades. He has carved many sculptures around Long Island and has even created sculptures in Colorado. His sculptures range from tall trees to small pieces such as corn ear sculptures. He is currently working on a sign for Youngs Farm in Riverhead.

He is able to create exquisite sculptures using a $400 chainsaw, which would normally take several days to chisel a tree. Chainsaw wood carving can also be used to create beautiful sculptures that are more environmentally friendly than hammers and chisels. Anderson promotes his business by word of mouth. He has created a huge cobra and great blue heron to help a Wading River mechanic.

Tracie Dugas

Tracie Dugas has created a life-size Wizard from wood. This is a great example of her skill as an expert chainsaw wood carver. The 49 year old young woman lives in Clare Nova Scotia, near Digby and Yarmouth. The chainsaw woodcarver was among several artists who displayed their works during the Canada Day weekend, Sydney, Nova Scotia. Although tourists flooded Sydney's waterfront, the dry spell allowed locals to take in the view of the chainsaw artist and enjoy the waterway.

Tim Crager

Tim Crager did not consider himself an artist. His skills with a chainsaw were only averagely proficient. But his passion for carving led to a full-time occupation six years later. Crager has been traveling the Eastern U.S. selling over $1 million worth carvings since that time. Born in Garrett, Eastern Kentucky, Crager grew up watching a chainsaw wood carver at work. The artist's style fascinated him so he called his boss one day and gave his two week notice.

Crager favors white pine over other wood types because it is easily accessible from tree trimming companies. Some people prefer other woods. Crager will follow the grain of the wood to create his pieces. Crager will change his mind during a project. However, he usually knows what he is going to make. The creation of small projects takes only an hour. However, larger carvings can take from 33 to 36 hours.

Don Scoggins

Don Scoggins is a chainsaw wooden carver. His wood carvings are detailed and often contain many animals. His works have been admired by neighbors and tourists alike. Blue Arrow Farm has a chainsaw shop, and its sculptures are so detailed and large they grace the front of the farm. Blue Arrow Farm's owner is Don Oriolo. He also manages Felix the Cat. Kacie Oriolo, Don Oriolo’s wife, met while they were competing in a New Jersey State Fair-sponsored chainsaw contest.

The award-winning wood carver began carving at a competition in Reedsport, Oregon, 15 years ago. Although he was an experienced wood carver, he had never used one before. How To

How to join wooden boards without using nails

Woodworking is a popular hobby. It's fun and relaxing because you can use your hands to make something useful from wood. You might want to join two pieces from the same wood, but you don't need to use nails. This article will show you how to do it to make your woodwork projects look great.

First, remove any sharp edges from the wood pieces before you join them. Sharp corners can cause problems down the line. Once you have done that, you can begin gluing your boards together.

If you are working on hardwood, you should only use glue on one side. If you're using softwoods like pine or cedar, you should put glue on both sides. Apply the glue to the boards and press them down until they are securely attached. Before you proceed to the next step, be sure to let the glue dry completely.

Once you've glued your boards together you will need to drill holes in the joints to accommodate screws. These holes will differ depending on the type and size of screw you are using. For example, if you intend to use 1/2-inch wood screws, you need to drill a hole that is at most 3/4 inches deep.

After drilling your holes, drive the screws into the board's backside. Avoid hitting the board's top surface. Otherwise, you could ruin the finish. Don't drive the screws too far into the end. This will prevent the wood from splitting.

Protect your finished project now. You have two options: seal the whole furniture piece or just the top. You'll want a product that lasts for many years. Oil-based varnishes are, among others, polyurethanes shellac, laquer, and other oil-based products.

These products can be found in most home improvement shops. It is important to ensure that you purchase the correct product for the job. Remember that some finishes can be toxic, so you should not use them indoors. So, always wear protective gear when handling them.
